Case closed: Many youths with disabilities WERE denied the extra year needed to recoup from COVID
At least 1500 parents of 18 to 21 year-olds likely believed their youth needed another year to catch up; few if any IEP teams awarded it...
Fix Act 66 by extending its protections to those in special education graduating in June 2022 or June 2023. These youths NEED the option to stay for an additional year AFTER they turn 21 if their parents request it. Then they can finally get the extra year of schooling intended to compensate for COVID, and that was offered to every other student in Pennsylvania. Don't leave them behind
This Solution is FAIR, SIMPLE, and NEEDED by Pennsylvania's most vulnerable youths.
